Key responsibilities

Are you risk averse but risk aware? Do you know how to maintain independence and objectivity? We are looking for someone like that to:

• Independently perform 2LoD EDD reviews for complex onboarding and lifecycle cases with a strong Latin America (LatAm) focus
• Act as escalation point for high risk and sensitive clients
• Challenge KYC/EDD submissions from 1st LoD for plausibility, completeness and compliance
• Assess complex ownership structures, SoW/SoF plausibility and adverse media in cross border contexts
• Ensure audit ready, regulator grade EDD documentation and consistent risk decisions

The team

You’ll be working in the Financial Crime Prevention Team in Germany. As part of the EMEA Financial Crime Prevention function, we are managing a broad range of compliance aspects, including but not limited to AML/ CTF, Sanctions Compliance, Fraud and Anti-Bribery and Corruption across products and services within UBS Europe SE Head Office in Germany.
We are providing professional support, advice and coaching to comply with relevant legal and regulatory requirements as well as with Group directives and standards for the management and all local business areas.

Your skills and experience

• university degree, ideally in economics, finance or law
• relevant experience of minimum 3 years in AML/KYC, Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) or Financial Crime Prevention
• good knowledge and understanding of Financial Crime related risks, including AML, CTF, Sanctions Compliance, Fraud and Anti-Bribery and Corruption related German and European regulation
• proven exposure to complex, high risk client cases, incl. LatAm jurisdictions
• sound know-how in SoW/SoF assessment, adverse media analysis and complex structures
• able to work in a dynamic and demanding environment with control focus and attention to detail
• reliable and resilient (challenging situations and conversations don’t scare you)
• able to work independently and take decisions
• flexible in performing both daily compliance tasks alongside more complex activities and projects
• fluent in English; Spanish and/or Portuguese strongly preferred; German will be considered as additional asset
• you’re curious to explore how AI can improve how we build, deliver, and optimize workflows. You do this with sound judgment – validating outputs and aligning with policies, risk standards, and ethical use

Wer am Finanzplatz Luxemburg in der Vermögensverwaltung arbeiten wollte, kam an dieser Adresse lange kaum vorbei. Credit Suisse (Luxembourg) S.A. betreute auf dem Kirchberg das Private Banking und die Fondsadministration der Schweizer Großbank. Heute gehört dieses Geschäft zur UBS. Eine eigenständige Credit Suisse gibt es in Luxemburg nicht mehr.

Das Kerngeschäft drehte sich um Vermögen. Wohlhabende Privatkundinnen und -kunden aus vielen Ländern ließen hier ihr Geld anlegen und verwalten, dazu kam die Administration von Investmentfonds. Luxemburg ist für solche Arbeit ein naheliegender Ort. Das Land zählt zu den größten Fondsstandorten der Welt, und genau dorthin brachte die Credit Suisse ihre über 160 Jahre alte Schweizer Bankgeschichte.

2023 geriet die Credit Suisse in der Schweiz in eine schwere Krise und wurde von der UBS übernommen. Das hat auch die Luxemburger Tochter eingeholt. Im Oktober 2024 ging sie in der UBS Europe SE auf, Anfang Dezember strich das Luxemburger Handelsregister den Eintrag. Was blieb, sind die Leute, die Mandate und die Büros.

Für eine Bewerbung heißt das vor allem eines: Auf dem Vertrag steht jetzt UBS. Neu ist die Bank im Land nicht, sie ist seit 1973 in Luxemburg tätig. Die zusammengeführten Teams arbeiten inzwischen in zwei Gebäuden auf dem Kirchberg. Dahinter steht einer der größten Vermögensverwalter der Welt. Gebraucht werden Beraterinnen und Berater für die Kundschaft ebenso wie Fachleute, die im Hintergrund die Fonds abwickeln, die IT betreiben oder über Recht und Risiken wachen.

Zwei Punkte bleiben offen. Wie viele Menschen heute am Standort arbeiten, weist die Bank nicht gesondert aus, und das ursprüngliche Gründungsjahr der Luxemburger Gesellschaft lässt sich öffentlich nicht zweifelsfrei belegen.
